Mezzes are served either with an apertif before a meal, in a bar or cafe, at a table in a taverna or in the home.
They are very much a part of Greek social life as they allow the opportunity to relax, have a drink, meet and chat with friends, show warmth and hospitality and pass the time.
As a guide a traditional mezze table contains hot or cold dishes.
